Grades 7 through 12 comprise the secondary school. We offer class sizes that support students as they rise to the challenge of high expectations set by KAS teachers. Our sports program runs throughout the year with tournaments played around Taiwan and off-island. Teachers sponsor extra-curricular activities to enrich the curriculum and aid in the development of well-rounded students who know how to work hard and have fun. An active student council helps provide KAS students with activities, parties and dances. The secondary division is a bustling, yet friendly place!

The 7th and 8th grade programs at the Kaohsiung American School are designed to provide a smooth transfer from the elementary school years to increased academic intensity and expectations of the secondary school experience.

In recognizing the many physical, social, and emotional challenges associated with early adolescence, processes are utilized which allow for student responsiveness to meet these myriad needs in a timely and efficient manner. In so doing, the development of an environment conducive to learning within the academic rigors of the secondary school is advanced.

The Kaohsiung American School secondary school is dedicated to striving for educational excellence and to prepare students for challenging university study in the United States and throughout the world. As students progress through our secondary school programs, they become increasingly more knowledgeable, self-directed, responsible, and self-disciplined.

Students are encouraged to excel in academic, athletic, leadership and student governance activities and to become involved in all aspects of school life.
