Welcome to the KAS Library!
Open from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday
We exist to serve the students, parents and staff of Kaohsiung American
School. In addition to more than 10,000 books available for checkout,
we also carry popular magazines and subscribe to a variety of powerful
research databases. Our OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) system allows
students to search the full collection at school and easily find the resources
they need for learning. Students can also access our online databases
from home through this website, using passwords available from the library
staff.
The KAS library also supports the Reading Renaissance Accelerated Reader
program, a reading incentive program that allows students to track their
growth as readers. We administer the STAR Reading test several times yearly
to determine student reading levels, and provide thousands of books for
students to read and quiz on.
With 13 computers, wireless internet access, 2 printers, and a ceiling-mounted
projector, we can support a variety of instructional needs. Students and
teachers are able to use the library as an extension of the classroom during
the school day.
After school, the work tables, reading areas and computers are available
for students and parents until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
