Students are required
to attend 8 full semesters in high school as well as complete a minimum
of 22 credits in order to obtain a diploma from the Kaohsiung American
School, as follows:
English - 4 credits
Social Studies - 3 credits
Mathematics - 3 credits
Science - 3 credits
Language - 2 credits
Fine Arts - 1 credit
Physical Education - 2 credits Technology - 1 credit
Electives - 3 credits
Details:
A one-credit course meets the equivalent of five 45 minute periods
per week.
A credit is earned only for high school courses, which must be passed
with a grade of D or better.
The Physical Education requirement may be waived for valid medical
reasons.
English Language Learners may receive only one year of credit as
an English graduation requirement.
Course work completed in other schools will be evaluated at the time
of enrollment and credit will be alloted for equivalent
subjects towards the KAS diploma.
Also Required:
Successful completion of 40 hours of Community Service
and a Senior Project |
