Summer Writing Institute

Session 1

June 10 to June 21

1. Writing and the Arts for First Time Summer Institute Students for grades 4 and 5.
2. Emerging Writers Workshop for students in grades 6-8.
3. Emerging Writers’ Workshop II will be offered primarily to students entering grade 9&10. This course will introduce students to the college essay in addition to beginning to prepare students for college writing expectations.
4. Personal Narrative Writing for University II will be offered primarily to students going into grades 11&12 and beyond. The students will focus on their college essay and will discuss the extended IB essay.

Session 2

June 24 to July 5

1. Emerging Writers’ Workshop for grades 6-8 students. This course may be divided into two classes to accommodate the second year students in the Summer Institute if the numbers dictate.
2. Emerging Writers’ Workshop II for students in grades 9-10. This course will introduce students to the college essay in addition to beginning to prepare students for college writing expectations.
3. Advanced Writing Workshop for University for high school students who have taken the Writing Courses from last summer or test into the class.
