Kaohsiung American School (KAS) is a private, non-profit PreK-12 institution with 330 students offering college preparatory programs leading to a U.S. high school diploma. It is located in Kaohsiung, a city of 1.5 million in southwestern Taiwan.

KAS was established in 1989 and is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in California, USA.

The Kaohsiung American School 's elementary division begins with the PreK class (four-year-old children) through grade 6. There are 152 elementary students and there is one section of each grade.

Students in all grades receive classes from specialists each week in technology, science, art, music, and physical education. In addition, students receive Chinese language or ELL (if needed) for a maximum of 220 minutes a week.

KAS offers a college preparatory program that this year includes 6 AP courses with other AP courses offered on a bi-yearly basis. There is a community service requirement for graduation as well as a senior project that includes the presentation of a research paper. There are a wide variety of extra-curricular activities including athletics, music, drama, Model United Nations, National Honor Society, Student Council, and specific interest groups.
